"It's about time." Silvermist muttered, curling her tail and glaring at the cat that had gotten away. The she-cat carefully spit he death berries out, knowing just how to carry them without bursting the little poisonous devils. Then lightning struck, causing the she-cat to jump as she turned her back on the battlefield. She didn't want to fight; she was a healer of sorts... and right now she was needed elsewhere. There wasn't much that a medicine cat could do when it came to a Queen giving birth. They did the work, and the turnout was completely in their hands.
It took moments for her to return to Dawnstar's side, and from there there were no words. She prayed that Starclan would bless this birth; even if it was against the forest code... and watching this nightmarish birthing in the midst of a battle Silvermist could see why the code was how it was. Dawnstar was currently rendered useless to the clan. Mothers were selfish, in the way that their children came before all else... from that sense, kittens were a liability. And that sense, for a leader, seemed the only thing that mattered.
---------------
Foxfang couldn't believe what he saw. Thunderclan's camp was a wreck, and the battles were fierce. He had come this way with three warriors from Riverclan; the yowls of battle and pain being carried over to every territory near it. The deputy quietly hissed, Shadowclan was disgusting. They had collected rogues, and were now trying to take over the entire forest!
For now, their main course was the blood of the Thunderclan cats. Allies of Riverclan, even after everything that had happened between them. The tom wouldn't stand for an allied force to come down; Shadowclan didn't need anymore blood on their hands. The blood of his friends and comrades. "Don't show them any mercy." He growled, and the warrior that he had brought with him nodded, joining the battle.
Foxfang had seen a few battles in his lifetime, but nothing like this. Then he heard the call... Eaglestar was... dead? Then why were these cats still figthing? Without Eaglestar? Shadowclan had no reason to fight! [/blockquote]

Hawkstorm was solemn beside her mate. Her tail would occasionally brush against his. She wished Pebblestar were here. But she had a duty to the clan. So Hawkstorm was alone. Her black fur was puffed up, and she felt small in comparison. "Eaglestar is dead!" she heard it yowled again and again. She understood that most of the Shadowclan cats were fighting because they didn't want to lose, and now for revenge. They burst into the clearing. Hawkstorm gave a quick scan, then ran off to subdue Ghostshadow. She leaped up and onto the she-cat, long hooked claws digging into her skin as Hawkstorm bit at her ears, trying to stop her from reaching Dawnstar. She leaped back bristling, her fur puffed up. It managed to make her three times her usual size, which, sadly was not much. But any cat that underestimated it would regret it.
Nightheart ran out as soon as Silvermist came in. Deadclaw was open; with a mighty stride he was upon her. He slashed at her, then leaped almost instantly afterwards, a low growl torn from his throat. He risked a second or two to glance at Hazelwing, love temporarily softening his gaze before turning back down to Deadclaw. He decided sitting on her would be the best course of action. But first he needed to get into a position to do so. He backed up and waited for the cat to stand up, deciding on a straightforward approach. Hazelwing, are you watching? I love you. OOC: By the way, who is the new deputy going to be?

OOC: We'll have to see once the battle dies down for a while and Dawnstar has her kitties :3 IC: Of course. I'm late again. Amberclaw cursed under breath, trying not to give away her position. She had just been making her dirt, and had warned the patrol that she wasn't ready yet, but what did they do? They left without her. As usual.
Her pretty amber eyes scanned the area from their place within the shadows. All around her, individual fights raged, occasionally mixing together as one duel ended and found a Clanmate to fight alongside. Amberclaw was trying to bring in a sneak attack, which she seemed to be getting good at, seeing how she was always left behind.
Right away she spotted an open target. It was a small black she-cat, obviously RiverClan- the fishy scent that seemed to overwhelm the clearing seemed to be radiating from the little cat. Instantly Amberclaw knew who the cat was; they'd had a couple of run-ins during Gatherings before.
Preparing to spring forward and save Ghostshadow from a hard blow, Amberclaw wiggled around, finding her footing and tensing her muscles. She shot forward, ignoring the branches that scraped through her short, thin fur to scratch at her skin. She hit Hawkstorm squarely from behind, causing even herself to stagger from the impact.
"Hello there, fleabag. Ready to die?" OOC: Kay, Amberclaw is going to be a complete moron and just not notice that everyone is screaming about Eaglestar's death. She shall be too focused on her prey!

Hawkstorm hit Ghostshadow hard as she fell forward. They both tumbled head over head. Hawkstorm sprang up and turned on Amberclaw. Her eyes narrowed as she ran at her. She was so small she could pass right beneath the cat. But her fur made her seem like this wouldn't work. It was a move she used often, and could only work once. This was because cats would figure out the trick after one time. She spun and spat, but she knew she couldn't handles such a big cat on. After running under her, she turned and scratched at her rear, hoping to hook those long claws in. "Foxfang!" she yelled, a plaintive call for help to her mate. After this she turned back to Amberclaw. Hawkstorm was a genius at fighting near water, being fishlike, but this was out of her league. She needed Pebblestar. But Pebblestar wasn't here. Maybe Foxfang could help. She bared her teeth, hissing and spitting, hanging onto her with those claws and hoping she could survive this. OOC: I don't want her to die in this battle, I have plans.

OOC: That's fine Amberclaw is just a NPC, so do what you'd like with her ^^; Just don't kill her right away! IC: Amberclaw whipped around to face Hawkstorm, though she was genuinely confused. She knew that the black she-cat was small; the ShadowClan cat herself was fairly tiny. But small enough to dive through Amberclaw's legs? That just made her head swirl.
By the time she managed to meet Hawkstorm face to face, there were claws about to dig into Amberclaw's pretty golden muzzle. She stepped back, narrowly avoiding the hit, and just about crashed into Ghostshadow as she did. "Help me!" she hissed at her Clanmate. No way did she plan to fight alone, not now that the RiverClan cat had called for back up.
Her fur bristled with the thrill of a fight- always a good sign for Amberclaw. Whenever it happened, she would feel a surge of power course through her, and it was always enough to keep her going, to keep her claws slashing at her enemy. Her eyes lit up, and then she felt it.
Her body tingled excitedly when the energy rushed throughout her body. She felt as though she could do anything and never fail. That magical feeling always helped to boost her confidence and get her moving. She launched forward, but had her body angled so that she would barely avoid a collision. From head on, however, it would look like the two cats would surely crash. Instead, when she whizzed past Hawkstorm's face and landed securely in the dirt, she didn't even turn, but jumped to the side, her entire weight smacking into her RiverClan foe. She felt herself lying atop the other cat, and quickly jumped to her paws. She flexed her sharp claws, like she would do if she were anxious and taking it out on soil. Her claws punctured the flesh on Hawkstorm's side.
"Here's a little hint," Amberclaw whispered into Hawkstorm's ear. "I've gotten a lot stronger since we last met as apprentices."

"Ugh!" Hawkstorm grunted as Amberclaw pushed her over. She tried to stand up, but was instantly attacked by the other she-cat's claws. She let out a hiss of pain, but was determined to show no more pain. She struggled, then let herself go limp, gasping in pain. Only half of it was fake. She quickly turned slightly, hooking her claws into Amberclaw's foreleg. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but it would keep the she-cat from moving her forelegs. A standoff, in other words. Amberclaw told her she was stronger than when she had been an apprentice. Oh, great. Hawkstorm thought crossly. Another grudge I don't remember. Although, the first one was been incorrect. She had probably fought her with Pebblestar. Oh! Now she remembered! She had taken on this she-cat and her master, with Pebblestar. And won. Hawkstotm could feel the blood loss getting to her, and quickly. But Amberclaw would be feeling the same effects, she knew. She smiled at the other cat, putting quite a bit of strength in it. "Maybe," she replied. "But I would still win against you. Especially with water."

Amberclaw bit her tongue to keep from screeching in pain as Hawkstorm's claw dug into her leg. It hurt. The scowl on her face was definitely not the most pleasing thing to look at at that moment.
She choked back tears and forced out a weak laugh instead. "I guess I'm lucky that there's no water around then, eh, Fish?" Fish had been Amberclaw's name for Hawkstorm when they were just little kitties. She had always smelled the horrid scent whenever she fought with the other cat, which was often. The name Fish had just stuck for seasons.
Soon enough, Amberclaw could stand it no longer. Her leg was going numb from pain and blood loss, and she figured Hawkstorm would be feeling about the same. She relaxed her grip, and meant to roll off of Hawkstorm before taking a bite out of her, but she didn't count on her leg giving way. She ended up rolling anyways, but she couldn't stand on it anymore, which meant she could leap onto Hawkstorm's throat.
She muttered curses under her breath, and did her best to get up. "I really, really hate you," she panted, having managed to stand up. She took a shaky, uncertain step forward, doing her best to keep her dead leg from collapsing under her again. It was actually a hilarious picture - a vicious little cat wobbling around and basically waddling to take a few steps!
Then an idea struck Amberclaw. She may not have been able to support herself with her numb leg, but she could still move it, and her claws remained outstretched. A bit of evil shone in her warm brown eyes, and the thought of Hawkstorm's blood, hot and sickly sweet, lingered in her mind. She raised her paw, and fast as the lightning that still flashed all around them, she struck down hard on Hawkstorm's head, dragging her claws down across the other cat's face.

Hawkstorm dodged just in time to avoid the blow hitting one of her eyes. Instead, the claws sank deep into her belly, cutting and changing it to fire. Water!!! Her mind shrieked. But her fighting instincts prevailed. Training with Pebblestar payed off. She grabbed the leg that had attacked her and pulled. Amberclaw fell, and she held on, with teeth, and claws. Foxfang!!! But he was busy. He probably hadn't heard her. She closed her eyes. "Frog," she murmured between clenched teeth. "Even if I die, this ends today. I am not letting go." Frog was her nickname for the cruel she-cat. She smelled like frog tasted. Icky. Pebblestar... Pebblestar! Please help. Hawkstorm sent out telepathic messages, hoping they would reach her mentor. The blood loss was pushing her beyond reason. Memories. A tiny apprentice and a mentor. Frog smell. Summer. A bigger apprentice. Frog smell. Snow. A tiny black she-cat facing a larger one. "This is our last fight," the tiny cat said softly. "Frog, I'm a warrior now. This can't go on. You'll never beat me. If you still want to, get stronger and fight me again." The she-cat turned and left. "Goodbye, Amberclaw." It was said softly, but the small cat knew the other would hear it. It was the first and last time the small cat had said the other's real name. "You did get stronger," Hawkstorm mewed softly. "But you forgot. I never lose. Amberclaw." Big words. She knew she couldn't hold out forever. But she also knew, she would not lose. She might not win this time, but she wouldn't lose. But one word still rang out through her mental clutter. PEBBLESTAR!!! OOC: Maybe Pebblestar could kind of telepathically know her former apprentice is in danger, and come save her. It's just a thought, but it would be cool...
